Recovering from containment

It goes without saying that the past year has not been an easy one, and even less so due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced almost everyone to rethink the way they operates. In the face of this situation, it was necessary to rethink how, in the context of confinement, to carry out certain activities in order to minimize the isolation that was necessary. In the same context, conjugal violence has been in the headlines, resulting in 17 feminicides since the beginning of the year 2021. It is normal that with all these events, it is difficult to see the positive side, but this dark period has nevertheless given rise to some bright initiatives.

On a personal level, this crisis led us to reflect on our life and the meaning we wanted to give it. We learned to do things for ourselves and not only for others. We also learned to find ourselves. Many people took the time to find the help they needed. Some people even questioned themselves a lot and this allowed them to find new interests and new jobs.

An assessment to continue on the right track

It is important to ask ourselves once in a while if we are really happy in our lives. Are we happy when we see our colleagues and friends? Do we want to try a new activity, because we are perhaps tired of the routine? If we had a magic wand, what would we change in our life?

After asking yourself these questions, you are in a position to change things or to ask for help in the right place. There are so many organizations to help you!

A light at the end of the tunnel

On the other hand, one thing is clear: we have become aware that a lifestyle based on consumerism and egocentric individualism is no longer viable. More and more, we buy local products and realize that solidarity is the best way to live in society. We have also understood the urgency to act against domestic violence, as with the introduction of the new emergency financial assistance program that will be deployed shortly in the Laval and Montérégie regions, before being deployed throughout Quebec. This is a great initiative that will be administered by the organizations SOS violence conjugale and Info-aide violence sexuelle to allow victims of violence to quickly leave a dangerous environment.

Fall; a good time to get together

Beyond long walks in the fresh air and trips to the orchard, fall can be a great time to get together. It's the perfect time to have raclette or fondue dinners with friends, decorate pumpkins with the family for Halloween, and/or take hot baths to warm up from the chilly weather outside. It's important to remember that even though the weather is greyer and darker, getting a little fresh air every day can really help you feel good.

Finally, we are very happy to have you back. Our mission is and will be to inspire and help you through all our future blog posts.

We hope you will enjoy reading us.
