Too much stress | How to let go?

It is recognized that stress is a societal issue that takes up a lot of space in people's minds today. It manifests itself insidiously in many aspects of our lives. It can appear at the office, at home, at school and in our relationships with others.

The stress we experience can easily affect those around us and ourselves.

But what can we do about it?

Tips to help you let go:

  1. Accept how you feel about the situation. It's important to realize what we can control and what is beyond our control. It helps us to accept our stress and even reduce it.

  2. Identify your stressors. This could be, for example, overwork, relationship difficulties, the pressure of parenting, a major change in your life, etc. It is a good first step to identify the source of our stress, because it is well known that when we recognize a problem, it is as if it is halfway resolved.

  3. Become aware that what stresses us most often is related to a whirlwind of thoughts related to the situation. How many times have you been anxious about something that never happened? Probably several times! Unfortunately, even though it's hard, you have to understand that the best thing to do is not to make assumptions and stick to the facts. Otherwise you get anxious and that's even worse than being stressed. (If you don't know the difference between stress and anxiety, go read our article where we differentiate them for you).

  4. Use stress management techniques. This includes exercise, yoga, meditation, etc.

  5. Try to manage your time better. One of the causes of stress can be a poor organization of your day or your priorities. It might be a good idea to organize your schedule to make sure you don't forget anything and don't have a lot to do at the same time. Also, learn to delegate, because aiming for perfection in everything is a great source of stress.

  6. Finally, don't forget to make time for activities that give you satisfaction and pleasure. It helps a lot to let go and be less stressed.
